This is how to disable all* of the lights on the lid of the case.

*There will still be leakage from the LCD backlight, but it is very subtle and nowhere near the intensity of having the lights turned on. See my pics below.

Make sure the power is off and your battery is out. Step one is to remove your LCD bezel (thanks David for posting the disassembly guide). Remove the 4 rubber screw covers and place them on a smooth surface. The adhesive on them will probably only last through one or two removals if you are careful. The rubber strips at the top on either side of the camera only need to be peeled a little bit on their widest sides to expose the screws, don't take them all the way off. Once you have taken the 6 screws out, start prying the bezel off gently. There is some adhesive near the camera at the top of the bezel, you may want to use a credit card or something to pry it away. Otherwise you might flex the bezel too much and break it. Be very careful.

In the following picture I have the hinge covers off too, you don't need to do this, only the LCD bezel needs to be removed. Next, remove the connector from the gaming board (circled in red):

Put the bezel back on. No more lights.

When you unplug the game board the RoG logo turns white and is very very dim (leakage from LCD backlight):

I started playing with it:

If you want to keep the RoG logo lit normally like that, keep the game board plugged in, but remove all cables except the leftmost blue ribbon cable. To take the ribbon cable to the right out, push up the black plastic part to unlock it.
